Circus Mexicus
The next Circus Mexicus will be June 6-9, 2013. See you there!
Circus Mexicus is a four day music festival in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico (aka Rocky Point). Music lovers from all over the world make the trek to the little beach community, a 3.5 hour drive south of Phoenix, AZ. Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers have been putting on this event for 12 years. The three days offer lots of music and many things to do:
DAY ONE – Friday
Hot Dog & A Smile: a charity event where RCPM drummer PH Naffah cooks up the hot dogs and sells them for a donation to the local orphanage, Esparanza Para Los Niños. It is held at JJ’s Cantina and anywhere from 4 to 6 bands play throughout the evening. Will Call location for wristbands.
DAY TWO – Saturday
Rock & Soccer charity beach soccer tournament: this starts bright and early at 8am and involves over 150 players on 12 different teams all vying for the coveted first place trophy. Roger Clyne plays every year. This event benefits youth sports for the local children of Rocky Point.
Saturday night is the big event with the 3+ hour show put on by Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers!
DAY THREE – Sunday
The Mañanathon is held at JJ’s Cantina all day Sunday where fans nurse their hangovers with Bloody Marys and get photos, autographs and a little hangtime with RCPM while bands play on the outdoor patio stage.
The Phoenix New Times named Circus Mexicus the “Best Rock & Roll Road Trip” in 2009. Come next year and see what all the fun is about at the only Music Festival held at the beach!
